Liz received Project Development Bursary in 2018. She will be showing her work at her studio at Cotley Barn, near Chard during Art Weeks Festival 2019.
Liz Gregory is a painter and printmaker based in the Blackdown Hills on the Devon/Somerset border, with a fine art degree from Birmingham College of Art. Her work stems from her immediate environment, and everyday and overlooked objects. Surrounded by small hill farms, Liz has a particular interest in observing and noting the huge changes that are taking place in this very local industry.
‘Almost six years ago, I started drawing a discarded piece of black silage wrap that I had found in a hedge. Unforeseen and unplanned, this drawing has developed into a major piece of work, measuring over seven metres in length. Although still unfinished, the end is in sight and the SAW’s Artist Development Bursary has come at a critical moment. It will help me bring the project together, develop the imagery and ideas that have sprung from it and enable me to look forward to the next step, including a large scale work at Somerset Art Weeks Festival 2019.’
